A Group of family and friends from Oregon and California who travel to meet on the common ground of fly fishing, to camp, joke, tell stories, and sometimes even catch fish. To many more trips with good times and tight lines.
Gold Lake
Oregon's original secret fly fishing only gem is no longer a secret but it still shines. High in the cascades near Willamette pass lies a small pot-hole laden dirt road, that after 2 that felt like 4 miles you reach one of the best small campgrounds around but make sure you get there early it fills quick.
Perfect for a float tube at 98 acres it has a no motor regulation so even with other people on the lake it still feels serene almost like it did 20 years ago. The regulations are so that it allows the harvest of all brook trout regardless of number nor size, while the rainbows are strictly catch and release. Nymphs and streamers will keep fish on but when a good hatch is out it can be a real treat and you can find some good dry action. Brookies will make for most of the catch but the rainbows will make for a rewarding and memorable surprise.
5-6 wt rods with floating line for dries and a full or sink tip to reach the fish down deep. Watercraft is not optional here large timber surrounds the lake and to get at most fish you'll need to get out on the lake so bring a tube, pontoon, or a small boat.
