A Group of family and friends from Oregon and California who travel to meet on the common ground of fly fishing, to camp, joke, tell stories, and sometimes even catch fish. To many more trips with good times and tight lines.
Lake McCumber
A good base camp for all the Lassen area fisheries with a bonus, the fishing can be so good you won't want to leave. The second of two fairly small reservoirs capturing battle creek on its way to the Sacramento river. McCumber offers good fishing for rainbows and brown trout especially early in the season before the weed growth takes over, also during a good water year levels are that which make for quality fishing late into the season. Small camp McCumber is the only facility here offering a few campsites and a make-shift boat ramp to get a small boat on the lake. No gas motors are allowed though electric motors are and can be helpful all that is really needed is a small float tube or pontoon. A put n take fishery allows for the harvest of a few trout as well as allowing the use of bait but fly fishers will find good action nonetheless for McCumber offers prolific hatches enough fish to keep one busy all day. But the evening can be on fire with so much bug activity to make an angler giddy, though mornings can be good as well. 4-6 wt rods with floating lines are the ticket, but learn indicator tactics with small chironomids or midges and you'll find the key.
