Upper Rogue River (Headwaters)

An exploring fly fishers dream come true, beautiful cascade mountain scenery, lots of easy access for it follows right along 62/138 most of its journey to too lost creek dam, and an almost limitless amount of "bushwhacking" tributary streams to keep the adventurous happy for a lifetime. Bubbling right out of the ground at boundary springs the Rogue river begins it's way to the ocean through forest of douglas fir, western hemlock, incense cedar, ect. It's course will change from slow and meandering to fast and furious in a hurry. Many campgrounds are along or just off the highway and many other landmarks and natural wonders can be found in the area. Castle, Foster, Bybee, Union, National, and Muir are just a few of the tributaries, this is where the real fun is found if your willing to trek through the brush you'll get away from the crowds and the stockers. Here you'll find wild fish eager to take a fly, bows, cutts, brookies, and though not large you shouldn't have trouble finding them. 2-4 wt rods with a floating line is all you need here, throw in an assortment of attractor flies that includes mosquitos, humpys, adams, and a few nymphs and your set. Be prepared to bushwhack a bit and leave your best pair of waders at home. Another concern and pry the biggest is to not forget the deet, mosquitos in this area can get down right nasty so come prepared.
